Welcome to the art and cross stitch design portfolio of Dana Batho, the designer of Peacock & Fig! Explore her drawings, paintings, and cross stitch patterns over the past two decades. Dana is heavily influenced by vintage art and illustrations, particularly from the Art Nouveau and Victorian eras, as well as the Italian Renaissance. Michelangelo and da Vinci are particularly influential in Dana’s artistic career, and she finds the challenge of rendering the human form incredibly artistically satisfying.
She has worked in a variety of mediums from chalk and charcoal, oil pastel on fabric, textile “illustration” using threads and mixed media, as well as oil paints and chalk pastels. She now creates art digitally using programs such as ArtRage, and turns these paintings and drawings into simple elegant cross stitch patterns available in her cross stitch shop. Recently she has also been strongly influenced by antique botanical illustrations, and the plethora of flora blossoming year round in her “reclaimed” home of Victoria, BC.
