ABOUT MY ART
I am influenced by vintage design and art, bold yet smoky colours, and sometimes add a side of sass to my hand lettering projects. I currently am focussed on wildlife oil paintings to help raise funds for conservation and education organizations, such as The Whale Interpretive Centre and Pacific Wild. For my surface pattern designs and spot illustrations, I specialize in botanical and animal-based designs. I’m very interested in themes of environmental and wildlife care, native vs invasive species, and how we are intertwined with the natural world. In painting, I try to capture expressive light and dynamism, even in everyday objects. Some influential design eras are the Arts & Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau, the Dutch masters, and the Victorian era. I am also a lover of the Hollywood Regency Glam interior design aesthetic, which I explain as “Versailles meets IKEA meets drag queens.”
