Cheeky Wee Lass collection

Have you ever wanted to learn another language, but then realized how much work it is and wondered whether you’d ever use it? Introducing the Cheeky Wee Lass Collection, where you can stitch or display a design so elegant your grandmother would love it (because she doesn’t know what it says), and you love it because you DO know the translation…. 😂

Featuring gorgeous metallic Japan Threads and beading, the luscious cross stitch patterns are as sassy as they are deliciously vibrant and joyous. These designs are based on the Jacobean era of botanical art and design, which was very popular in Britain from 1567-1625. The designs were featured in home furnishings such as upholstery fabrics and wallpaper, and were full of fantastical leaves and flowers that didn’t exist in nature. Even though the Jacobean style originated in India (thus its resemblance to Indian paisleys), it is still very popular, particularly in crewel work embroidery.

Paired with Scottish and Doric insults (Doric is a Scottish language used predominantly in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire), the mix of elegance and sass is perfect for gracing any home or office (or your cellphone). You’ll get lots of oohhs and ahhhhs at first glance, then possibly the viewer spitting up their coffee when you tell them what it says…. 😂Of course, all the cross stitch patterns can be stitched without the text (images are shown in each listing what it looks like without the text), or you can purchase the custom pattern option to customize the design with your own word or phrase. The gift tags are also without any text, and the cellphone wallpapers have both a quote and non-quote version. And just for fun, you can “customize” your response when people ask what the text means, such as “Oh grandma, it’s Doric for ‘I love you’…..” 😂

When you’re having one of “those” days, maybe a pretty bouquet of flowers is what you need… 😂 The lovely Jacobean-era inspired Awa an Bile cross stitch pattern features brilliant Japan Threads in both gold and copper, as well as pretty gold beads. The text “Awa an bile yer heid” is Scottish Doric, and translates to “Go away and boil your head”, aka “get lost.” If the text isn’t to your taste for the pattern, you could add in your own text with any of the cross stitch alphabet charts, or you could stitch the pattern without the text, there’s an example photograph showing what it looks like without text. And if you’re not sure what Japan Threads are, you can check out this free video tutorial. 😊

This design is also available as a downloadable cellphone wallpaper, printable gift tags, and printable art. They can be purchased individually or as a set, or the Mega Bundle with all downloadable products and all the Cheeky Wee Lass cross stitch patterns is also available. This pattern features luscious Jacobean-era inspired flowers and pomegranates, as well as stunning Japan Threads and gold beading. The text, “Awa an raffle yersel”, is a Scottish insult translating to a milder form of “piss off”… 😂 Of course, you’re free to come up with your own translation for those who may be “sensitive” to the real meaning, such as “Entertain yourself.” If the text isn’t to your taste for the pattern, you could add in your own text with any of the cross stitch alphabet charts, or you could stitch the pattern without the text, there’s an example photograph showing what it looks like without text. And if you’re not sure what Japan Threads are, you can check out this free video tutorial. 😊

Gypit Hoor Cross Stitch Pattern

The Jacobean-era inspired botanical wreath of the Gypit Hoor cross stitch pattern holds a secret — the true cheekiness of the text. The Doric Scottish insult “Gypit Hoor” actually translates to “crazy whore,” but of course you could create your own translation for those who are more sensitive like children in the home (or your parents, or that one “special” friend who takes offence to everything…). “Great woman” might be a good fake translation if needed …. 😂 Rich golds and vibrant pinks and purples enhance the sparkle of the pretty gold Japan Threads and the delicate gold beading. If the text isn’t to your taste for the pattern, you could add in your own text with any of the cross stitch alphabet charts, or you could stitch the pattern without the text, there’s an example photograph showing what it looks like without text. And if you’re not sure what Japan Threads are, you can check out this free video tutorial. 😊

Pooch Me Hame Cross Stitch Pattern

The vibrant tones and metallic shimmer of the elegant Pooch Me Hame cross stitch pattern hides a little “surprise”… the text. This Jacobean-era inspired pattern is ideal if you love snark but can’t display it at home because of children or parents who might get upset, as it doesn’t resemble English at all. “Pooch me hame” is a Scottish insult, translating to “kiss my a$s.” Of course for entertainment, you could create your own “family-safe” translation, like “I love my family”…. 😂This pattern features Japan Threads as well as beading for a touch of shimmer and shine. If the text isn’t to your taste for the pattern, you could add in your own text with any of the cross stitch alphabet charts, or you could stitch the pattern without the text, there’s an example photograph showing what it looks like without text. Yer Arse and Parsley Cross Stitch Pattern

Elegant, sophisticated, snarky… what could be better than that. The gorgeous spring-like mint and peach tones in the Yer Arse and Parsley cross stitch pattern belies the meaning of the text, which is a Scottish insult translating roughly to, “You’re talking shit.” The phrase can be used to make your own exclamations of frustration more colourful, or for those more sensitive you could say it’s an inspirational phrase promoting a healthy whole diet … 😂 This Jacobean-era inspired cross stitch pattern also features sparkling Japan Threads in a glorious copper, as well as shiny copper beads. 😊

The Yiv a Face cross stitch pattern is as cheeky as it is luscious and elegant. The gorgeous Jacobean-era inspired botanicals are enhanced by the shimmering copper Japan Threads and copper beads scattered across the wreath. The text “Yiv a face like a skelpit erse” is a Doric Scottish insult, and translates to “You have a face like a smacked a$s.” If the text isn’t to your taste for the pattern, you could add in your own text with any of the cross stitch alphabet charts, or you could stitch the pattern without the text, there’s an example photograph showing what it looks like without text.
