First layer of my floral oil painting

Oil paint setup

Here I go, finally paint on canvas. I worked for about an hour getting the first layer of my oil painting started. I set myself up so I could work as much as possible directly at my eye level. It seemed to work for the most part, and sometimes I was holding the canvas at eye level which was ok for me to do. I got the base mid-tone pink down and then left it, I didn’t want to work too much on it and potentially hurt myself. I also wanted to start using some blues and purples, but I didn’t want to paint them over wet paint. So next attempt will be some deeper layers of colours and maybe some highlights. I’m not sure how long it will take, but considering the size (about 2″ square) it shouldn’t take me too long to paint. We’ll see!
